Texas A&M

Tian Laboratory - Undergraduate Research Assistant

Conducted research in the Chemical and Biosensors Lab at Texas A&M designing scalable biosensors for resource-limited environments and analyzing physiological data. My work contributed to a published research paper in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces.

Research Impact:

  • Designed cost-effective biosensors using polymer technology for global health applications
  • Conducted data analysis on sodium ion concentrations and physiological stress indicators

BUILD TAMU - Medical Innovation

Volunteered with BUILD TAMU to create functional medical solutions from recycled materials, as a member of Biomedical Engineering Society.

  • Designed and manufactured recycled shipping container medical clinics
  • Created cost-effective solutions for underserved communities
  • Applied engineering principles to real-world health challenges

Westlake High School

Lilypad Project - Pediatric Comfort Initiative

FRC Team 2468 outreach Lilypad Project, reaching out to hospitals to manufacture Lilypad seats: devices that attach to IV machines to provide comfort for children with cancer during treatment.

Project Impact:

  • Designed comfort solutions specifically for pediatric cancer patients
  • Collaborated with hospitals on product deployment and feedback
  • Made a direct difference in children's healthcare experiences

Robotics Education - Science Days

Volunteered as a member of FTC 9048 Philobots to teach STEM to students across the Austin area. Presented robotics concepts and hands-on demonstrations to thousands of students, inspiring the next generation of engineers and problem-solvers.

Impact:

  • Taught 4,000+ students across 50+ hours of presentations
  • Made STEM accessible and exciting for younger students
  • Demonstrated practical applications of engineering
  • Encouraged interest in robotics and computer science

BCE Space Camp Counselor

Taught as a STEM camp counselor at BCE Space Camp, leading a 40-hour STEM program for elementary students. Introduced young learners to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on activities and mentorship.

Service has always been a big part of how I’ve learned and grown. Whether I’m building something, teaching, or mentoring, I’m most motivated when my work connects back to people.

I was once an elementary student attending robotics science days, and those early experiences helped spark my interest in engineering. Now, I try to be that same source of encouragement for others.

Being a woman in computer science has shaped my experiences in meaningful ways. I’m committed to helping create spaces where more women feel supported, confident, and heard.

Learning by Teaching

Some of my clearest understanding comes from explaining ideas to others and working through problems as a team. Teaching has made me a better learner and a better engineer.
